Touch Assignment

The skin is the largest organ of the body. The reading made it clear that when entering a body of water it is easiest to enter the icy body of water with your feet first due to the foot's insensitivity. However, the fingers are the most sensitive part of the body. When it comes to touch you are most likely to use your hands to feel the texture of new things and to fully understand the object that you are touching. For this touch assignment I chose to depict my hands with cold water droplets on them. The sensitivity in your fingertips is evident when you touch cold water, bite your nails, or touch a hot stove.

Touch can also be shown in the form of intimacy. To show the greatest form of intimacy we use our bodies and touch to show affection and love. This painting that I created focuses on intimacy and touch with the body by depicting two nude bodies. We are taught from the first day of life how important the use of touch is between the mother and the babies body. The mother uses her body to feed, nurture and form a bond between herself and her next of kin.
